There was a time when Samsung, Apple, and Huawei were the top three brands of smartphones across the globe. But, Huawei went out of the race after the US government blacklisted it in the country. And, none of the American companies now work with it. However, Xiaomi took this as an opportunity to expand its market. So, taking the Huawei ban as an advantage, Xiaomi captures a market previously dominated by Huawei. Now, according to a survey in June 2021, Xiaomi successfully managed to surpass Samsung and Apple’s market. And Xiaomi became the world’s biggest smartphone brand. Moreover, Xiaomi secures 17.1 percent market share alone, while Samsung shares 15.7 percent and Apple has 14.3 percent market share.
According to counterpoint Research monthly market pulse service, the company has witnessed 26 months of monthly sales increment. In addition, the reports also say that Xioami was also the top brand globally for Q2 2021. As the sales in that year were close to 800 million units since inception in 2011. Moreover, Xiaomi is the fastest growing OEM basing on its aggressive offline expansion in lower-tier cities. The company launching Redmi 9, Redmi Note 9, the strongest performers became the plus point for the brand growth and popularity.
Research Director Tarun Pathak says that Xiaomi has been expanding in Huawei’s and honor’s legacy markets like China, Europe, Middle East, and Africa. In June, Xiaomi was further assisted by China, Europe, and India’s recovery and Samsung’s decline due to supply constraints. Moreover, Analyst Varun Mishra comments that China’s market grew 16 percent monthly in June thanks to the mid-year-e-commerce fest and 618 festivals.
